ILSA PKU (International Law Students' Association of Peking University) which represents ALSA China was established in March, 2003. It is one of the only three students' associations that major in foreign intercourse affairs in Peking University. Confronted with the trend of globalization and urgent requirements for jointing international regulations, a group of young, cordial and precise youths of law from PKU gathered and dedicate to creating the beneficial career that prompts law communion internationally. During the period of preparation for foundation, ILSA PKU had been greatly supported by law school of PKU, League members' committee of PKU and International cooperation department of PKU. As a representative of Chinese law students, ILSA PKU attended the conferences of Asian Law Students' Association held in Japan and Korea and constituted close connections with those law students' associations in Asia. Under the leadership of law school of PKU, ILSA PKU will widen its intercommunion and reinforce learning. Basing itself upon interior and scanning internationally, ILSA will shape a successful future in the 21st century together with the development of Chinese legal system.
The main activities of ILSA PKU are holding the Annual ALSA Conference or Forum, Study Trip program with other law students' association of other countries, English corner, Moot court, visiting law firms and so forth.
During the period of preparing for the foundation of ILSA PKU, some Peking University law students were invited to attend the ALSA Forum held in Japan and Korea in 2001 and 2002. With the great help of other ALSA member countries and Peking University , ILSA PKU was formally established in March, 2003. After the establishment, ILSA PKU attended the ALSA Forum in Korea and the 15 th ASEAN Law Students' Conference held in Thailand in 2003, constituted close connections with those ALSA member countries in Asia and authorized to represent ALSA China .
In March, 2004, ILSA PKU, cooperating with ALSA Hong Kong, held the 1 st ALSA Conference successfully in Beijing and Hong Kong.
With the modernization of the rule of law and the deepening of opening and reforms in China, especially after China's entry into WTO, more and more capable people with a good legal education and an open mind are in an urgent and great need. As the members of such a student association with a legal background and a lot of experience of international communication, we strongly recognize the necessity to raise our internationally legal awareness to hold the pulse of the world, calling for the better realization of a world full of hope, with constitutionalism and justice. And as future lawyers, we are ceaselessly striving to implement the responsibilities and leadership roles for our communities.
Through such activities as holding periodical international conferences and organizing international Study Trips, we will definitely exert ourselves to strengthen mutual communication and cooperation with the outstanding law students in other countries, and promote mutual understanding and respect naturally and effectively. And of course, it contributes to the progress of the rule of law in respect countries positively and China 's modernization of the rule of law. In addition, we are shouldered the tasks of contributing to the progress of the rule of law and international communication.
